Nature-friendly banks in Ostend

Herbosch-Kiere realised nature-friendly banks and mud and salt marsh islands in the scouring basin for Ostend. During an earlier phase, we had already constructed jetties and pontoons for water sports. The nature-friendly banks are 650 m long. They were planted with ornamental grass, shrubs and a footpath. Birds were given places to rest, in the form of four islands in the lake.

A scouring basin is a man-made basin that is connected to a seaport. The scouring basin in Ostend is a gigantic body of water covering an area of 80 hectares.
