CMOS Installer arrives in Senegal

We’re excited to announce a new milestone in our ongoing projects! On May 31st, our CMOS Installer DP2 vessel, co-owned by Herbosch-Kiere and Enshore Subsea, set sail from LS Cable & System in Donghae, South Korea. The ship embarked on a 122-day journey carrying 31 kilometers of 225 kV subsea cable, which arrived in the Bay of Dakar, Senegal, on September 30th.

This subsea cable will soon be installed, forming a crucial connection across the bay between Rive Bel Air and Cap Des Biches. The installation is part of the larger Senegal Power Compact project, a transformative initiative for the region’s energy infrastructure.

Herbosch-Kiere is proud to partner with Enshore Subsea on this significant project, with our Dakar Marine Link team leading the cable installation effort.

The Senegal Power Compact is a collaborative agreement between Senegal and the United States, supported by the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) and MCA-SĂ©nĂ©gal II, aiming to strengthen Senegal’s power network and boost economic growth.

Have you ever wondered how 3,333 tonnes of 225 kV submarine cable is loaded onto a cable-laying vessel? Watch and learn! We made a timelapse of the cable being picked up in South Korea.
