New steel support structure for bridge in Mechelen

In Mechelen, we have installed the steel support structure of a new bridge.

It involved two steel beams, 44m long and 54 tons each. To lead these impressive works in the right direction, a very special mobile crane, more than 30 meters high, was used.

Timing is of enormous importance. This impressive lifting operation was deliberately carried out at low tide so that the quay wall that protects the city center could be temporarily removed. The gigantic beams form the supporting structure of the bridge.

Later this year, another bicycle and pedestrian bridge will be installed over the Dijle.
