The object of the assignment is the construction of 2 steel bike bridges over the Dyle river and the redevelopment of a 2.2 km towpath near the planned floodplains of the Sigma plan Bovendijle.
The mobility and recreational opportunities in the region are literally cut off by the Dyle river. Existing bridges for cyclists and pedestrians are often at a considerable distance. With the construction of the new bridges over the Dyle, additional bike connections will be added to the area. This not only serves as a welcome gift for schoolchildren but also highlights the bicycle as an attractive alternative for shopping or commuting.
The two new bridges over the Dyle will henceforth improve the accessibility between the municipalities of Bonheiden, Boortmeerbeek, Haacht, and Keerbergen. Both bridges are 36 meters long, have a width of 4.65 meters, and weigh 37 tons.
