Remediation in Lokeren

In 1962, there was a pond at a location in Lokeren which later became filled up, primarily with household waste. It had a history of soil contamination with mineral oil, naphthalene, mercury, zinc and asbestos in the solid part of the soil and mineral oil and naphthalene in the groundwater. The plot to be remediated was undeveloped.

Herbosch-Kiere was responsible for the first phase of the remediation which consisted partly of a living layer remediation (0.75 m-gl) and partly of the excavation of a hotspot (2.5 m-gl).
